My goal in painting outdoors is to work quickly; I often give myself a time limit of thirty minutes or less. Part of the reason for this is that the atmosphere and the light I attempt to capture is fleeting and will not wait for me to get it “just right”. The other part is that working quickly encourages decisiveness and tends to stifle that waffling voice of the inner critic.
